What is a FUMI? It's the New Must Have!

I have been hearing about purse hooks for years but never gone the extra mile to purchase one. To a degree, they just seemed impractical and for a girl with ADD like me, remembering to put one into my purse would be just another "thing to do" on my very long "don't forget" list. The concept seems wonderful, but how could I remember to slip the gadget into my purse and use it consistently...especially since I swith purses just about every day! Well, it is....it's a bracelet...no it's a purse hook...no it's a bracelet...It is both!!
This is the coolest invention!! Nicole and Natascha Shamlin invented this FUMI pursehook. They have worked with and sold the original purse hook that many of you have seen before. (They still sell those!)...but the comments that they heard about them was that they got lost at the bottom of their purses or they never had them with them. So they came up with this idea to take care of it.

You can wear it as a bracelet and when you do not want to wear it, you can clip it to your purse..so it is always there. I got this to review and I was so excited. It was nicer looking than I expected. I decided that we needed to go to dinner that night just to try it out. So we went to Rooster's restaurant within hours of when I got this. You may recall my previous mentions of purse hooks. They are truly practical and I think everyone who carries a purse should own one. Well now I have come across the best looking purse hooks I have seen to date!

The FUMI was created by two sisters, Nichole Shamlian and Natascha Shamlian. These are beautiful hangers for your purse to keep them up off the filthy floors in restaurants, bars, and other places. By the way FUMI stands for Fashionable, Unique, Multipurpose, Innovation.

The FUMI PurseHookThe basic principle is the same. You use the hook by placing it over the edge of a table and then hang your purse by the straps on the other end of the hanger. This keeps your bag up off the floor where food has been dropped and ground in by shoes and there are all sorts of bacteria and other things that I don’t even want to think of down there. Really if you take a moment to consider some of the places you have set your purse down and then other places after that like your own tables and counters at home… Well, you get the idea. On top of keeping it off the floor for cleanliness, it’s also handy to have it up there closer to you. It seems I am always digging into my purse when we go out to eat whether it’s for a pen and paper for my son to doodle on, an after dinner mint, a coupon, and my wallet to pay for the meal. Using a purse hook keeps my bag right next to me and much easier access. If you are hanging your purse on the back of your chair you need to consider thieves. Before I tell you more about the FUMI, did you see the ABC news piece a few years ago about how disgusting the bottom of your purse is? If not, here you go! I tend to avoid thinking about stuff like that because I've never really been a germophobe, but there are a few things I admit I've allowed to "get to me" and that's one of them, along with the hotel room glassware expose` which aired more recently. UGH. (That one's worse than the purse thing, but I digress).

Bottom line? The bottom of your purse is a breeding ground for any and all manner of microbes including -- you guessed it -- fecal bacteria! Woohoo party on, poop germs! With such a cornucopia of of microscopic nasties hanging out on the floors, anything you can do to keep your purse (and your tongue) off the floor will help. This is where the FUMI comes in. FUMI stands for Fashionable, Unique, Multipurpose Innovation. It's a bracelet that becomes a hook for your purse. No, seriously. It does.

Purpose: To keep your pretty girlie purse off the dirty, nasty floor when you're dining out. 
Suggested Retail:  $24.95

Pros: It's cute as a bracelet and is available in several patterns from plain silver or gold to leopard, zebra, and snake. The one I reviewed appears to be faux black snake skin and it's called "Confident." If I were to choose one today, it would be Charming. But regardless of the pattern, the designs are all the same: Clever and really functional and it holds my fully loaded Butler Bag Hybrid like it's nothing. (if you've ever picked up my purse, you know that thing is HEAVY!)

Cons: I haven't found any cons, but if I do, you'll be the first to know.

Value: I think it's a great value for the money because it has more than one function -- you KNOW how I love that!
